Abstract
The seeds of Nigella sativa Linn contain a new isobenzofuranone derivative, 5-hydroxy-2,2-dimethyl-2,8-dihydro-6H-furo[3,4-g]chromen-6-one (1), obtained from the CHCl3 extract. Complete 1H and 13C assignments of the compound were carried out using one-dimensional steady-state difference NOE together with HMQC and HMBC experiments.
