Abstract

Two events, which appear to be rare decay modes of hyper-fragments, have been observed in a stack of nuclear emulsions exposed to the 23 GeV/c proton beam of the proton synchrotron at CERN. The first event is interpreted as due to the muonic decay of a lithium hyper-fragment and the second as due to the π+-mesonic decay of a helium hyper-fragment.
