Abstract
The sugarcane × bamboo hybrids recently produced at this station (Venkatraman, 1937), provide material for the study of the phylogenetic relationship of the genus Saccharum with other grasses. The gap covered by this cross is considerably wider than in the case of the Saccharum × Sorghum hybrids1,2, or the Saccharum × Erianthus hybrids effected in Java3.
