Abstract
The spin-lattice relaxation of an arbitrary spin due to the molecular torsional oscillations in pure quadrupole resonance is discussed. Explicit expressions for the spin-lattice relaxation time T1 are derived for two different forms of correlation function. The first one is based on Bayer's model and the second makes use of a more physical picture of harmonic oscillator transitions.
