Abstract
The formulation given earlier for the lattice dynamics of simple metals using the nonlocal pseudopotential method is extended here to binary alloys. Expressions for phonon frequencies are obtained for a completely disordered alloy and modifications due to short-range order are also considered. The theory is applied to calculate the phonon frequencies for the binary disordered alloys RbCs.
