Abstract

Excitation of hydrogen atoms from the ground state to 2s, 2p, 3s, 3p, and 3d states in passing through alkali-metal atoms has been studied using the Born approximation. The form-factor description of the target and the generalized-oscillator-strength representation of the projectile has been used.
