Abstract
The article discusses a study where four of adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-binding cassette (ABC) drug transporters that include MDR1, MRP1 and LRP were evaluated for their use as a possible prognostic biomarker for risk stratification in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Results indicated that none of the cytogenetic risk groups were predictive of expression any of the ABC transporter although expression of MDR1 was a significant predictor of outcome in terms of overall survival.
