Abstract

Trialkoxysilylated camphorsulfonamides have been used for the synthesis of functional organosilicas in a template-directed hydrolysis-polycondensation with tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS). The sol–gel transformation leading to the formation of highly ordered materials indicates that trialkoxysilylated camphorsulfonamides allow the synthesis of functional organosilicas with high structural regularity. This behaviour arises from the affinity of the chiral precursors towards the lyotropic phase of the ionic surfactants in the aqueous hydrolysis-polycondensation mixture.
