Abstract

In this chapter we recapitulate some of the fundamental theories of fluid flow at the micro-scale and then introduce the theoretical models of various phenomena which enrich the mechanics of this fluid flow. Specifically, we concentrate on the rudiments of electrokinetics, surface tension, non-Newtonian fluid, and acoustofluidics and their applications in fluid flow at the micro-scale. We resort to analytically addressable mathematical treatments for convenience of an introductory reading.
