Abstract

The carcinogenic effect of aflatoxin has been investigated in the rhesus monkey. The toxin was administered to one male and one female monkey in a sub-acute dose for a period of 5.5 yr. In the male animal, a rapidly growing hepatocellular carcinoma of a giant-cell type developed 2.5 yr after the toxin administration had been discontinued. The histopathology of the tumour is described. Observation of the female is continuing.
