Abstract

This review article discusses several interesting generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equations (GNLSE) occurring in quantum fluid dynamics for both time-independent and time-dependent situations as well as the possibility of soliton or solitary wave solutions for such equations. It concludes with a brie f report on a new GNLSE derived by the authors recently.
