Abstract

The synthesis of group 9 triple-decker-sandwich metallaheteroboranes containing four-membered open B2E2 central rings (E = S or Se) is described. Further, the reactivity of these molecules with group 8 metal–carbonyl compounds is carried out, yielding closo-polyhedral metallaheteroboranes.
