Abstract
A new polymeric compound, [Mn(N3)2(1)2]n (2) where 1=N(phenyl)isonicotinamide (NPI), has been synthesized and characterized by X‐ray crystallography and low‐temperature magnetic study. Compound 2 consists of a one‐dimensional chain of octahedral Mn(II) bridged by azide anions in end‐to‐end fashion. In this compound, the Mn(II) ions are linked by 4 azide bridging ligands and 2 monodentate ligands 1. Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements in the temperature range 300–4 K reveal the existence of weak antiferromagnetic interactions (J=−14.6 cm−1).
