Abstract
Major part of the plain is recent and its surface has been built up by the silting action of its wayward streams flowing from the Siwaliks and the Himalayan region. The old high bank of the Yamuna in the north Delhi forms the summit level of the plain (Sinha and Peter 2007). The topographical differences in the north and south have resulted in the formation of a depression near the eastern margin of Rohtak district.
