Abstract

Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a neurodevelopmental disorder with psychiatric comorbidity. To the best of our knowledge, there is only one previous report of TSC co-occurring with both psychosis and obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD).1 Recent studies have implicated involvement of chromosome 9p in OCD and chromosome 16p in schizophrenia, and it is well known that the causative genes that lead to TSC are TSC1 and TSC2, located on chromosome 9p and 16q, respectively.2-4 Further genetic studies are warranted regarding the exact genetic mechanism by which TSC and these two disorders co-occur. We report a case of TSC with psychosis and OCD as comorbid disorders, which remitted on a combination of fluoxetine and risperidone. A signed release from the patient authorizing publication has been obtained.
