Abstract
Biofilm is a lifestyle exhibited by bacteria. This is an intricate process that involves cell—Ccell communication which leads to the regulation of certain genes. This affects the laying down of the extracellular matrices which form the substratum for the biofilm. In this review, we have discussed in detail about the mechanism behind biofilm formation and the physiological importance of biofilm lifestyle for the bacteria.
