Abstract
A convenient synthesis of thieno[2,3-b]-pyridines (3), thieno[3,2-c]pyridines (4), pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridines (6), thieno[2,3-d[pyrimidines (9), pyrido[1,2-a]thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidines (11), pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimido [4′,5′: 4,5]thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidines (12), pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimido[4,5-d]pyrimidines (13) and pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimido[1,2-a]pyrimidines (14) has been described starting from the reaction of suitably functionalized pyridines (1, 2), pyrimidines (7), and pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidines (10) with different nucleophiles in sequence of reactions.
