Abstract
In 18-crown-6, the replacement of two methylene groups by two carbonyl groups or one oxygen with sulphur, increases the transport selectivity of K+/Na+ and Tl+/Na+ picrates. However, the presence of a combination of two carbonyl and one sulphur moiety or their multiples adversely affects the transport rates and selectivity.
