Abstract
In this paper, a three-phase four-wire microgrid is proposed to serve the rural and isolated places. This microgrid is designed with brushless generators, where SyRG (Synchronous Reluctance Generator) is used as DG (Diesel Generator) and PMBLDCG (Permanent Magnet Brushless DC Generator) is employed for wind power extraction. A BSS (Battery Storage System) is also used to make the microgrid reliable and supportive during light load conditions and wind fluctuations. BSS is also helpful to reduce the rating of the DG set during heavy loads. It provides deficit power to the load when DG and wind powers are fully utilized. DG set feeds power to the AC loads which can be nonlinear and unbalanced. The VSC (Voltage Source Converter) with adaptive filter based control algorithm provides harmonics compensation by injecting reverse harmonic currents into the system. It keeps the supply voltages and currents sinusoidal and compensates neutral current to keep the supply balanced. The voltages at the point of common coupling (PCC) are maintained constant and are regulated at 50 Hz. Simulation results are presented in detail using a MATLAB/Simulink model. A prototype is also developed for achieving test results to validate the design and model.
