Abstract
This paper deals with investigation on the performance of voltage and frequency controller (VFC) of a wind power generation using a capacitor excited isolated asynchronous generator (IAG) feeding dynamic loads. The amplitude of load currents is estimated using the low pass filter to control the voltage and frequency of IAG system. Three-leg voltage source converter (VSC) with a battery energy storage system (BESS) and non-isolated T-connected transformer is used as a VFC. The proposed VFC works as a voltage regulator, a load leveler, a load balancer and a harmonic eliminator. The wind power driven IAG system is modeled and simulated in the MATLAB using Simulink and sim power system (SPS) toolboxes.
