Abstract
This paper proposes a variable step learning affine projection control algorithm used for control of three-phase VSC (Voltage Source Converter) based DSTATCOM (Distribution Static Compensator) for its various functions in the distribution system. These functions include reactive power compensation, harmonics elimination and load balancing under nonlinear loads with self supporting features of dc bus voltage of VSC. The proposed control algorithm is used for extraction of tuned value of active and reactive power components of load currents which are major components for extraction of reference supply currents. A VSC based DSTATCOM is modeled using MATLAB. Simulation results of proposed control algorithm are analyzed under steady state and dynamic conditions with satisfactory performance.
