Abstract
This paper deals with the dynamic performance of a solar PV array integrated UPQC-P (SPV-UPQC-P) for use along with critical loads. The shunt compensator of SPV-UPQC-P is connected across the load and compensates for reactive power along with supplying the power from PV array into the grid. The series converter of SPV-UPQC-P compensates for the sags and swells in utility grid voltage. A suitable voltage is injected in phase with the grid voltage which enables to compensate sag or swell with minimum voltage. Solar PV array is integrated with DC-link of the SPV-UPQC-P using a simple DC-DC boost converter. The operation of the system is demonstrated under under various conditions such as varying irradiation, voltage sags and swells and step change in load using Matlab-Simulink environment.
