Abstract

This paper presents the analysis of four leg voltage source inverter (VSI) used as an active filter (AF) for reactive power compensation, load balancing, harmonic elimination and neutral current compensation in three-phase four-wire nonlinear loads. A detailed dynamic model of the complete scheme is developed to study steady state and transient behavior of the proposed AF. Simulated results confirm the validity of the proposed approach for the three-phase (27.8 kW)/two-phase (18.5 kW)/single-phase (9.1 kW) nonlinear loadings. Suggested method is expected to be widely used in future for active filter designs produced for load compensation.
