Abstract
A double switch dual-output buck-boost converter fed switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive is proposed for power factor correction (PFC) at AC mains. The motor control is achieved by regulating the DC link voltage over wide range thus obtaining the speed control. The proposed converter utilizes the two switches which turn on and off simultaneously, thus reducing the switching stress as compared to a conventional buck-boost converter. As per the system requirement, the structure for dual output converter is designed to feed a midpoint converter of SRM. The input current THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) is brought down below 5% as per the IEC 6100-3-2 standard for improved power quality.
