Abstract
This paper presents a direct power control of a single VSC (Voltage Source Converter) based DFIG (Doubly Fed Induction Generator) for WECS (Wind Energy Conversion System) without using a rotor position sensor. The proposed control algorithm performs independent control of active and reactive powers by selecting the appropriate voltage vectors to the RSC (Rotor Side Converter). In this method, rotor flux location is estimated from the stator flux and the slip angle. In this algorithm, rotor position sensor is eliminated and a position sensorless algorithm is used for estimating the angle between the stator and rotor fluxes. Modeling and simulation of a 10 kW DFIG system are carried out in MATLAB / Simulink and results are presented to demonstrate the performance of the proposed WECS under varying active and reactive powers.
