Abstract
This paper deals with the development of a microprocessor based scheme to start and control the speed of variable frequency inverter fed polyphase squirrel cage induction motor drive. The drive scheme consists of two three-phase thryristor bridges, operating one as a rectifier and other as an inverter with a commutation circuit in the dc link and these are controlled using microprocessor. Test results on a 3 hp, 4 pole, 415 V, 3-phase squirrel cage motor at different frequencies and terminal capacitors are given and discussed in detail.
