Abstract

The problem of erosion of a part of Colva beach, Goa, was studied during the period, April to December, 1975. An analysis of the data in the light of coastal dynamics has been presented with a view to help in the design of remedial measures. It is observed that the erosion was caused not by wave activity but by a freshwater stream joining the sea at Colva beach. The erosional problem is expected to be solved by guiding the stream properly through the beach which is otherwise stable.
