Abstract

A study of the sediment movement along the West Coast of India from Cape Comorin to Goa coast in relation to wave refre=action has carried out in order to understand the nature of sediment transport along this region. The study reveals many special features of sediment transport along this coast which is subjectes to changing wave types caused by the seasonally varying wind systems. The sediment movement in relation to converging and diverging patterns of wave induced longshore currents and its role in the possible formation and maintenance of mud banks in certain regions of the coastline are discussed.
