Abstract

The dynamical ac susceptibility response in psuedo ferrimagnetic Sm1-xGdxAl2, is essentially dominated by the larger moments of S-state Gd3+ ions (s=7/2, μGd=7 μB). It is characterized by a peak like feature over almost the entire range, 0.01≤x≤0.9, which is governed by the anisotropy of the smaller Sm moments (0.2 μB/Sm3+).
