Abstract

The Sm intermetallic compound SmScSi, a ferromagnet with an unusually high Tc of 270 K, has been driven into a “zero magnetization” state by substituting 9 at.% of Sm by Nd. The magnetic characteristics have been studied by dc magnetization, ac susceptibility and specific heat measurements and comparisons are made with the Gd doped SmAl2 systems.
