Abstract
Since Newell's documentation1 on tropical circulation, considerable amount of progress is being achieved in data coverage and quality of data analysis. The global experiment FGGE in 1978-79 provides reliable data. using these data set in the tropics, we studied the mean circulation characteristics in December, 1978 and compared these results with those of Newell et al.1
