Abstract

Complex A, [RuCl(C19H16(C19H14.75 Cl0.25N2S)], mean Mr=752.9,triclinic, pl, a=16.116(3), b=10.519(8),c=10.416(4)Å, a=74.91(4), β=95.19(2), y=83.44(3)°, V=1680.4 Å3, Z=2, Dx=1.49gcm-3, λ(M0 Ka)=0.7107 Å,μ=6.87cm-1, T=295K, F(000)=768.0, R=0.051 for 3966[I>2o(I)]reflections. Complex B, [Ru(C19H15N2S)(C19H14.70C0.10N2S)], mean Mr=718.2, triclinic, Pl, a=9.831(3), b=10.217(2), c=16.349(5)Å, a=78.81(2), β=77.43(3), y=88.23(2)°, V=1572.2Å3, z=2, Dx=1.52g cm-3,λ(Mo Ka)=0.7107Å, μ=6.47cm-1, T=295K, F(000)=733.6, R=0.061 for 2901[I>2σ(I)] reflections. The metal coordination spheres are complex A RuClCn2S2 (N,N and S,S pairs are cis-cis); and complex B RuC2N2S2 (N,N and S,S pairs trans-cis). Both coordination spheres are distorted octahedral. The Ru-C bond exerts a dominant trans effect. The N=N distances [1.272(8)-1.300(10)Å] suggest the presence of substantial Ru-azo π back bonding.
