Electronic spectra of pyrrole-2-aldimine chelates of bivalent copper—I

Abstract

The electronic spectra, crystal field spectra in particular, of bidentate and tetradentate pyrrole-2-aldimine chelates of copper in coordinating (pyridine) and non-coordinating (chloroform, benzene and hexane) solvents and in nujol mull are reported. Some of the chelates are made for the first time. Certain trends in positions and intensities of bands are pointed out. Assignments of bands to specific crystal field transition could not be achieved from the present study.
