Abstract

Coumarius have been prepared from alkyleyclo-hexanone-2-carboxylates andtrans-β-decalone-3-carboxylate by condensing various dihydric and trihydric phenols either in the presence of concentrated sulphuric acid or phosphorus oxychlorid. The Fries'Transformation of the 7-acetoxy-derivatives of the various coumarins has been studied with the purpose of comparing the 7-hydroxy-8-acetyl derivatives with their 7-hydroxy-6-acetyl isomers.
