Abstract

The Indian DIabetes COnsortium (INDICO) is an initiative to build a resource for genetic, epigenetic and clinical studies of type 2 diabetes (T2D) in socioeconomically transiting Indians. The consortium aims to follow selected communities which are undergoing rapid urbanization over a period of years to create a knowledge base for the better understanding of the gene-environment interaction in T2D. These resources can eventually be of value to not just the diabetes research community but would be able to contribute towards an improved understanding, diagnosis and prevention of numerous complex human disorders.
