Abstract

The non-uniform RC line, constructed from thin resistive and dielectric films, is a promising circuit element for microminiature oscillator circuits. The differential equation for voltage or current along such a line is a second degree equation with variable coefficients and involves an imaginary term. An exact steady-state solution of this equation has been obtained previously in two special cases only. The paper outlines two methods of obtaining a number of simple patterns of non-uniformity for which the line equation is exactly solvable. Some corresponding solutions for the line voltage are also given.
