Abstract

We study the effect of hyperfine interactions on static and dynamic properties of a model quantum magnet. A mean field theory of the transverse Ising model with an additional hyperfine interaction term agrees rather well with the experimentally obtained phase diagram and dynamic susceptibility measurements in LiHoF4 which of late, is being referred to as a model quantum magnet.
