Abstract

A heat stable serum factor of low molecular weight maintains the myosin ATPase activity of cultured rat heart cells. Its action is directly on the heart cells and it does not act by selection of heart muscle cells. It has no effect on heart muscle creatine phosphokinase or lactic dehydrogenase nor on myosin in skeletal muscle cultures.
