Abstract

Using the formalism of TFD it is possible to convert the time evolution equations for the density operator into a Schrödinger-like equation for the thermal vacuum |e|. This makes quantum mechanical approximation methods available for solving master equations. We consider the master equation for two-photon absorption, which is exactly solvable and compare it with the Hartree-Fock approximation in TFD.
