Abstract

Influence of templating agent, alkali metal, additive (viz. NaOH, NaCl and KCl), seed crystals and gel composition used in the synthesis of silicalite on the structure, crystal size and morphology of the resulting silicalite has been investigated. The use of tetrapropyl ammonium hydroxide and triethyl butyl ammonium hydroxide as templating agents results in silicalite having a structure similar to that of ZSM-5 and ZSM-8 zeolite, respectively. The crystal size and morphology of silicalite are strongly dependent on the additive, seed crystals, and gel composition used in its synthesis.
