Abstract

Evidence indicating that the redshifts of quasars and of some galaxies may have noncosmological components is presented. Consideration is given to the periodicities in redshift distributions and the associations between discrepant redshift objects. Quasars lying close to galaxies are discussed with attention focused on the following: (1) NGC 4319 and Markarian 205, (2) 1E 0104.2 + 3153 and the neighboring elliptical galaxy, and (3) the galaxy 2237 + 0305 and the neighboring quasar. Theoretical constraints on physical models based on the cosmological hypothesis are mentioned.
