Abstract
A comparative study of the model atmospheres of cool stars with and without the inclusion of graphite-particle opacity has been made. It is found that the extinction due to graphite particles is appreciable compared with the absorption due to other sources. Therefore, for a discussion of cool stars where particle formation is possible, it is necessary to take into account the opacity due to the particles in the computation of the model atmosphere.
