Abstract

The influence of Mn on the activity coefficient of oxygen in liquid at low concentrations has been determined in the temperature range 1200-1300 ° C using the solid electrolyte galvanic cell (--)Pt, W/O sub (Cu-Mn)/ZrO sub 2--CaO/NiO--Ni/Pt(+) The interaction epsilon sub 0 exp (Mn) was --1802 at 1200 ° C and --1078 at 1300 ° C. the results, the enthalpy and entropy interaction parameters have been evaluated and the nature of the solute interactions is discussed. The applicability of the quasi-chemical solution model to describe the thermodynamic behaviour of such systems is examined.
