Abstract

The products of ozone dissociation occurring on glass surface displays massindependent fractionation where 17O and 18O containing ozone isotopomers dissociate less efficiently compared to 16O isotopomer and equally so. Consequently, the left-over ozone is enriched equally in 17O and 18O while the product oxygen is depleted correspondingly. Such behaviour is unexpected and is in contrast to the case of photo-dissociation and thermal dissociation. A surface complex may be involved in generating this anomalous behaviour.
