Abstract

The trade-off between bandwidth and resolution of a linear antenna array is examined. Computations have been made of the bandwidths associated with the point source and dipole arrays for various array specifications and look angles of the antenna beam. The results show that for a point source array the bandwidth varies linearly with lambda/D, while for a dipole array the curves level off with a limit equal to the bandwidth of a single element.
