Abstract

The π-selectivity of 1-substituted tricyclo[2.1.0.02,5]pentan-3-one is not controlled by the electrostatic effects caused by the polarization of the σC1C5 bond as suggested recently. The observed selectivity could be explained by the application of the cation complexation approach.
