Abstract

An efficient and convenient procedure for synthesis of chiral sulfoxides with good enantiomeric excess and chemical yields by an asymmetric oxidation of prochiral sulfides using tertiary butyl hydroperoxide as oxidant, (+)-diethyl tartrate as chiral auxiliary and titanium pillared montmorillonite clay as catalyst for the first time.
