Abstract
Reaction of methyl vinyl ketone with a variety of aldehydes, catalyzed by 1,4-diazabicyclo (2.2.2)octane (DABCO) in tetrahydrofuran, conveniently provides the corresponding α -methylene-β -hydroxyalkanones in good yields.
