Abstract

Optimising the design and operational logistics of CAPES, the Computer Aided Paperless Examination System, for conducting an aptitude test over 6800 examinees distributed over 20 days in 18 cities in India, a statistical analysis of the field test is made for determining the effectiveness of the simplicial test structure of CAPES. The results have demonstrated that the new system has not introduced any bias in the randomization process and that the time spread does not have any discernible bias over the scoring ability of examinees taking the test towards the end of the duration as compred to those at the beginning. The field test results have also guided the development of an ergonomically optimal and user-friendly design of the keypad for CAPES.
