Abstract

Detailed scodtee have been carried out on the parametric dependence of the photochemical reduction of europium (III). The paper presents the salient features of an efficient process developed for tbe pbotnchemical reduction of europium (Ill} ions in aqueous solutions and its application in the seperation of europium from synthetic lanthanide mixtures as well as from a 70% europium concentrate obtained from the indigenous monazite sources. Further work is however needed to establish the commercial potential of the process.
